I’m a smoothie girl, but I love juices too. I just haven’t been able to invest in one of those fancy juicers since I have already invested in fancy blender! So, I decided to “make-do” and use my blender as a juicer. I had heard that this was possible, but I was skeptical. However, since I have a high-power blender, I figured I’d at least give it a try! And the results were incredibly tasty, and the juice left me feeling energized and invigorated!
Anyone with a blender can make juice, but a high-powered blender is ideal so that you can really get all of the good stuff out of the fruits and vegetables. It does take a little bit of work when it comes to coaxing the liquid from the green pulp. If you don’t have a good strainer, you could also use cheese cloth. - 2 cups spinach
- 1 inch of peeled ginger
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 cucumber
- 3 stalks celery
- 2 yellow or green apples
- ½ cup water
- Thoroughly wash all of your fruits and vegetables. Set a strainer over a medium-sized bowl.
- Cut the cucumber, celery, and apple into 1-inch chunks. (Do not use the apple seeds.) Remember, the smaller pieces you use, the less work for your blender! Add the ingredients to the blender. Your blender should be full to the brim. (If all of the ingredients don't fit, work in batches.)
- Blend on high for 1-2 minutes. If the ingredients get stuck, turn the blender off and carefully move them around.
- Pour the contents into the strainer. Allow the liquid to drain from the strainer for 5 minutes. Then, use a spatula or the back of a spoon to push the pulp around so that the rest of the liquid drains through the strainer.
- Reserve the remaining pulp for later use, or discard.
- Pour the green juice from the bowl into your serving glass. Drink immediately, or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to two days.
