Rupert's Glühwein

I first had glühwein (mulled wine) in 2006.  We spent a pretty insane day at the Torino Winter Olympics, outside in the Alps watching freestyle skiing with nothing but Italy's version of glühwein to keep us warm.  Each cup was being sold at the very fair price of 1 euro!

Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of attending a holiday party with the most delicious, homemade glühwein.  The host, who prepared the glühwein himself, was born and raised in Germany.  Many cultures have their own version of mulled wine, but this one was so delicious that I sneaked into the kitchen to compliment the chef and get his recipe.  This drink is a pretty simple to make--just make sure that your glühwein doesn't boil!  If it boils, you will cook away the alcohol--and what's wine without alcohol?  ;)
