The four Portuguese men accused of raping two girls in Gijón, Spain, in July 2021, were acquitted by the court, said this Friday, November 21, lawyer Germán Inclán.
The lawyer stated that the four accused were fully acquitted following the trial, which took place on October 29 and 30 at the Provincial Court of Oviedo, based in Gijón, in Asturias, northern Spain.
The four Portuguese, all residents of the Braga region, were accused of rape by two girls they met in Gijón, during a few days of vacation in the summer of 2021.
The defense always asked for the acquittal of the four Portuguese men, arguing that the sexual relations were all consensual.
According to the accusation and the allegations of the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office, the girls met two of the Portuguese men in a bar and agreed to have sexual relations with one of them in the accommodation where they were staying, but ended up being raped, in that place, by the four men now acquitted by the court.
